So here's the deal

I want a boxing match of sorts, between two, and only two people.

The idea would be to acquire to people on opposite sides of an issue and allow them to debate, only them, for one solid week.

at the end of the week an panel of 3-5 unbiased judges would determine the victor.

good idea? bad idea? let me know!

it will only work if the two people chosen are dedicated to it, and very active.

that, and we'd have to set up special permissions for each person, create a new forum, etc....

Brian... I really think it will work.

as an addendum to the idea i am not against a tag team match of two on two.

How much work would actually be needed to set this up?

if the participation (judges, debaters) are there I'll do the leg work, this is a thread to test the water. Future action will depend on response. It is wholly possible that this is a great ides in 2009 and a poor idea for 2007, but we'll see.

I say do it, but wonder if it is possible to have a real debate, not just a pissing match and name-calling session.
Will it be judged on content, relevance, and merit of presentation?
True debate is absent on the web as it is.
