I wish to ask a favor from the muslims and christians on this forum. I want you first to consider your religion carefully, then post what you believe to be the foundation of your faith, it can be in passages from your respective holy book. Actually I have reconsidered the first sentence, will anyone of any faith or no faith at all please post what is the foundation for their beliefs, or the guide for their actions, but please post only what you believe matters.

I will start. The building blocks of my system is to learn and create, anything else is secondary to these two aspects. This is what I have determined for myself as the "reason for living". The next step is acting on your strengths, making them the epicenter of your being, and following your path till perfection. What I do while living these ideals depends on my temperment, which is inborn, and only modified when something has enough impact to break my continuity. Next?

@markx15,
Man is that he might have joy.

I came to this earth to receive a physical body, to gain knowledge and to pass a test that will determine my progress in eternal life.

@markx15,
There is no Greater God to me than me. I AM responsible for my own actions not some higher power that I can give credit too, or place blame upon.

If something good happens, I did it. If something bad happens I DID IT

My religion

Action and accountability good or bad.

@markx15,
The foundation is that God is perfect

to seek God is to seek perfection, it is refinement of the soul.

The Challenge is to seek God, nothing in that pursuit is left sacred. Ignorance is far more evil then any red devil. Should something from the Bible or Koran misrepresent the perfection of God the challenge is to say it's wrong when it's wrong, regardless of the opinions of others, (a couple good examples would be God telling Israel to stone disobedient children or Mohamed getting married to a 9 year old, Paul permitting slavery in Corinthians, etc).

This is both appealing and challenging because it requires personal study and it demands spiritual personal responsibility...

"...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling..." Philippians 2:12

"Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others." Buddha

Finally you must understand that you will never reach perfection, nor fully find God. The path itself is measured in effort & self honesty. In that there is a measure of faith, that whatever you fail to discover will be forgiven for your effort.

@markx15,
I am from neither of the group that you want opinions from but I thought I would chime in ANYWAY:

There is no Christian God. There is no creator. There is a spirit inside each of us that moves us. There is no heaven. There is no hell. You live. You die. You MIGHT move on but no one REALLY knows except religious folks that have NO PROOF.

Be good to yourself and others. Do the best you can in life because it isn't permanent.

Agree? Disagree? Don't really care?

Thanks for reading.

@markx15,
Faith and Religion are no more than stories created to answer questions for which science could not solve at the time.

To me, the bible holds no more weight than Aesop's fables.

After all, both are "stories designed to teach a moral lesson".

@markx15,
1 John 3:18:
"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."
I believe the Holy Spirit is within all of us and that we should allow the Spirit to guide us. One of two things generally control our lives ... fear or love. Once we learn to let go of the fear and let Love control all of our actions, then we are truelly at peace with ourselves and all things around us.

@markx15,
All of the above obviously lacking faith were to be put into extraordinary circumstances, would "find God", if only temporarily, which is what may be what might have led man to God in the first place.

@briansol,
The foundation of my faith is God, The son and the Holy Spirit. Something I can only believe in by experience and blind faith.
